Types Of Loft Conversions:

Dormer/L-Shaped Dormer - An extension to the roof that provides a much larger loft space. These types of lofts can be placed either to the front, side or rear of the property, depending on the shape of the existing roof. At AK Constructions and Developments, Velux doors/windows are essential; these windows can be placed to the dormer to create natural lighting.

Mansard - This type of loft enables the roof to achieve its maximum loft space by using all of the available space of the existing roof. This occurs as the conversion goes up to the apex of the roof, making use of the whole upper area.

Hip To Gable - An extension where the side roof is removed off of the side wall. This maximises the internal height of the roof. This type of roof is found on many end of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties.

Attic - A small indoor space inside of the roof that is usually used for storage; this can be made to be accessed via a small door on the ceiling that can be pulled down, storing a ladder for easy access.

The materials we use are entirely up to the clients' preference, however we recommend; slating, tiling, lead, liquid plastics (recommended for flat roofs), fibre glass, single ply or asphalt.

 
GUTTERING - When it comes to roofs, the weather in London causes damp atmospheres leading to defective rainwater guttering and pipework problems. However, at AK Constructions and Developments, we provide a service that is able to properly carry rainwater away from the building. The main cause of guttering problems is that the water runs along the outside wall which can cause damage to the building's structure and eventually cause mould that ruins the decoration and durability of the building. Therefore, it is our priority to ensure that the gutters are well-maintained.
